Wood characteristics: White or very light brown wood, darkening to reddish brown. Fine to very fine grain. Homogeneous structure, straight grain. Very visible mesh on quarter. Sapwood generally not distinct. Wood mi-hard medium-heavy.
Mechanical properties: Good resistance to axial and transverse compression. Stiff in flexion. Little resilient. Little fissile.
Technological properties: Works more or mine well depending on the conditions and the place of growth. Turns and bends well. The finish is still excellent. Stains, paints and polishes very well. Adheres satisfactorily. Quite hard to nail and screw, before hole recommended.
