Vikasa yoga studio headquarters Enter Projects Asia

To embody the ideals of Vikasa, a Bangkokian yoga brand, the architecture studio Enter Projects Asia has snaked an organic silhouette through the 450 m2 of a raw block of the city center.

Two public yoga studios and two private yoga studios are compartmentalized. From their partitions, rattan rods mounted on a wooden frame, the membrane is born. Like a yoga flow, it will move gracefully from one posture to another to serve the functions. It will be, in turn, a light, a reception, a bench and a lampshade.

Rattan envelops to create a retreat space, “an urban oasis in the chaos of Bangkok”. Like yoga, which reconnects us to our body, the architecture of the studios awakens the senses and connects visitors to the environment around them. The smell and feel of its wood, the visual softness of its silhouette and the auditory calm provided by the acoustic performance of its structure.

Enter Projects Asia transcends traditional Thai weaving techniques by putting 3D printing at their service. Indeed, software like Maya and Rhino were used to model the organic form beforehand. It was then printed, scale one, so as to serve as a guide for artisan weavers.

More than a spiritual and technical space, the whole has been designed to limit the environmental impact. The materials, from the slate covering the roof to the wood used as a frame for the rattan, are regional. The hardwood is Thai and the rattan comes from Koh Samui Island. The agency also collaborated with Project Rattan to get in touch with local weavers. The project thus favors the short cycle and crafts of the Bangkok region.
