Wood characteristics: Light brown to dark yellow wood with brownish veins, independent of growth rings. Sapwood not very distinct. Fine grain, irregular grain. Heavy to very heavy wood.
Mechanical properties: Strong total shrinkage in volume, quite nervous.
Technological properties: Sawing often delicate because the wood is hard and the grain irregular. Drying of solid wood very slow and delicate because of significant shrinkage and pronounced risk of cracks. Suitable for filming and sculpture. Easy to polish and varnish.
