Sarugaku Plural Directed Tower Masatoshi Hirai Architects Workshop

The Sarugaku Plural Directed Tower project is a mixed-use building on several floors, consisting of a business, a workplace and a family home with a workspace. Designed by the architecture studio Masatoshi Hirai Architects Atelier, the project is located in the Shibuya district in Japan, a country where the concept of "kyôshô jûtaku" or "micro-houses" emerged in response to the growing population.

Unlike condominiums and classic office buildings, the work-residence combination forms a new typology that naturally creates two-way relationships and communication.

In this architecture, we find glued laminated timber, designed in a Japanese mountain village. The wood then brings a certain softness, contrasting the concrete of the exterior facade.
