The Architecture of Trees is an extraordinary book, the result of a legendary botanical and architectural study that was presented in the exhibition “We the Trees” in 2019 at the Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain. Initially conceived in 1982 by architects Cesare Leonardi and Franca Stagi, this imposing book brings together more than 550 drawings of 212 species of trees drawn at a scale of 1/100 with and without foliage, as well as diagrams of shadow projections, and plates of seasonal chromatic variations.
It also contains 393 notices on each family, genus and species of tree illustrated by drawings of leaves, flowers and fruits, completing this study which lasted more than twenty years.
The Architecture of Trees is a fundamental work intended for professionals, architects, landscapers and designers, as well as for all those who are sensitive to the world of trees.
