Tactile Object Fall 2024 Selection
On the occasion of our new selection Tactile Object, we are celebrating wood carving—and more specifically, carving that makes texture visible. These pieces reveal the precision of handwork, the marks of tools on the material, and remind us that this practice, at the crossroads of art and craft, is not limited to the creation of shapes: it also invites touch.
Wood carving begins long before the tool touches the material. A work can be born from a sketch, a model, or simply from an examination of the wood itself. Each type of wood has its own characteristics and therefore imposes its own requirements. Hardness, fibers, grain: all these parameters dictate the technique and guide the choice of gouges, chisels, or knives.
It is this sensitive relationship between the hand and the eye that is at the heart of our selection Tactile Object, available from November 14 in our online store.
