Wood characteristics: Creamy white to pale brown or even gray color. Sapwood not distinct. Hard and resistant. Medium heavy. Unsustainable wood. Straight wire sometimes wavy. Rather coarse grain. 

Mechanical properties: Fast growing woods have excellent mechanical strengths. Resists well in compression, very well in traction and flexion. Elastic and very resilient. Little fissile, fairly adherent.

Technological properties: Easy to machine. Sands well, easy to glue. Takes paints, waxes and varnishes well. Easy bending after steaming.
